Weather Underground Forecast for Tuesday, November 17, 2009.
While no tropical development is expected in the Caribbean Sea or the Tropical Atlantic on Tuesday, patches of active weather will persist throughout these regions.
A nearly stagnant trough of low pressure hanging over the eastern Caribbean will continue to support scattered showers and a few isolated thunderstorms throughout Puerto Rico and the Leeward Islands. Meanwhile, unsettling weather will also persist in the southwestern Caribbean Sea. The strongest concentrations of precipitation and thunderstorms are expected near the coasts of Panama and Costa Rica.
Tranquil weather activity is expected across the remainder of the Caribbean Sea due to high pressure.
For South America, typical convective activity will persist throughout the northern countries on Tuesday. Additional showers are expected along the coast of Brazil. The tail of end of a frontal system will spark a patch of moderate rainfall and possible thunderstorms near Espirito Santo, while onshore flow will keep areas near Sao Palo under wet weather conditions.
To the south, strong winds and mixed precipitation will develop throughout southern Argentina as a low pressure system along the coast exits into the South Atlantic Ocean. A front associated with this system will reach into central Argentina and kick up a line of light to moderate showers through the day. Strong onshore flow will continue to produce rain and snowfall in southern Chile.
Rio De Janeiro will see temperatures in the upper 70s(F)/mid-20s(C), while Buenos Aires will rise into the mid-80s(F)/lower 30s(C). Santiago, Chile will see temperatures in the lower 80s(F)/upper 20s(C).
