Weather Underground Forecast for Sunday, July 05, 2009. The most active weather to end the weekend will be from a low pressure system and associated slow moving front that will move through the eastern third of the country. This will translate to considerable rain and some thunderstorms from central Texas through the Mid-Atlantic. Aside from the precipitation, slightly cooler air will press into the area, allowing temperatures to cool from their Saturday maximums.
Mild to cool air will also stream into the Northeast, but precipitation will hold off to end the weekend.
Typical moisture will stream into the Southwest and along the Rockies, producing scattered showers and thunderstorms from New Mexico through Montana.
The West Coast wil remain dry, and low coastal clouds will keep temperatures mild for areas close to the coast. Inland temperatures will remain mild to warm.
The Northeast will rise into the 70s, while the Southeast will see temperatures in the 80s and 90s. The Southern Plains will rise into the 90s and 100s, while the Northwest will see temperatures in the 80s and 90s. The Southwest will rise into the 90s and 100s.
Temperatures in the Lower 48 states Saturday ranged from a low of 29 degrees at Spincich Lake, Mich. to a high of 116 degrees at Death Valley, Calif.
On this date in 1998, a tropical weather system in the Caribbean Sea and its potentially tremendous rainfall were a possibly welcomed idea to the 110,000 Floridians still evacuated from their homes due to wildfires.
