At 557 PM MDT... National Weather Service Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm 17 miles east of Wheatland Reservoir #3... or 25 miles southwest of Wheatland... moving east at 10 mph.
Penny size hail... and winds to 55 mph are expected with this storm. The storm will remain mostly north of Highway 34 through 630 PM.
This storm will affect mainly rural areas of eastern Albany and southwestern Platte counties.
A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in effect until 1100 PM MDT for Platte... Goshen and Laramie counties of Wyoming and for all eight counties in the western Nebraska Panhandle.
