Weather Underground Forecast for Thursday, August 07, 2008.

The remnants of Edouard over central Texas, in addition to returning normal afternoon thunderstorms, will continue to cause problems with flooding over the region. The Southern Plains will see hot and humid conditions as temperatures are expected to remain in the lower to mid-90s.

To the North, a front extending from New England, down the Ohio Valley, and into the Central Plains will cause moderate to heavy showers and a chance of thunderstorms for these regions. A flood watch has been issued for southwest Missouri/southeast Kansas and these storms have a history of turning severe over the Northeast. Thus, significant rainfall with thunderstorms is likely on Thursday as a trough of low pressure moves through New England. Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine are expected to receive the most rainfall and are at risk for potential flooding.

Meanwhile, the Midwest is expected to see mostly sunny skies and pleasant weather as a high pressure system builds over the region.

Moving to the Southwest, moist and unstable air is expected to cause thunderstorms along the southern California and Arizona border on Thursday. The low pressure system that will affect this area is also expected to cause significant rainfall and thunderstorms in southern Utah and Colorado. Thus, flooding remains a concern for these areas.

The Pacific Northwest can expect cloudy conditions as moisture moves in from the Pacific on Thursday. Southern Oregon is expected to remain under a thunderstorm watch with possible fire outbreaks until Thursday afternoon.

Temperatures in the Lower 48 states Wednesday ranged from a low of 35 degrees at Wisdom, Mont. to a high of 119 degrees at Death Valley, Calif.
