* until 130 am EDT
* at 1145 PM EDT... Weather Service radar indicated numerous showers
and thunderstorms producing heavy downpours from near Ahoskie on
east toward Edenton and Elizabeth City. Radar has estimated that
between 1 to 2 inches of rainfall has occurred with some of these
storms just north of the Albemarle Sound. Additional storms will
move across the area producing up to another 1 to 2 inches of rain.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
Runoff from the excessive rainfall will produce ponding of water on
roadways as well as minor flooding of low lying and poor drainage
areas.
Do not drive your vehicle into areas where the water covers the
roadway. The water depth may be too great to allow your car to cross
safely. Move to higher ground.
