Statement as of 9:48 PM CDT on July 03, 2009 The Flood Warning continues for the Atchafalaya River at Morgan City. * Until further notice... or until the warning is cancelled. * At 9:00 PM Friday the stage was 4.2 feet. * Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast. * Flood stage is 4.0 feet. * Forecast... little change is expected with wind and tidal fluctuation. * Impact... at 4.0 feet... the impact on river side Industry will lessen as the river begins to recede.

	Special Weather Statement
Statement as of 5:32 AM CDT on July 04, 2009 ... Hot Fourth of July will turn into wet week ahead... This afternoon... temperatures will rise to the upper 90s to lower 100s in most places. Heat indices will top out in the 105 to 108 range for a few hours. A heat advisory may be necessary. People should take precautions if they plan on being outdoors for any length of time this afternoon. Drink plenty of water. Try to stay in the shade. Take plenty of breaks from physical activities. If you can... go indoors to air-conditioned areas to cool off. A Little Break from the heat is in store this upcoming week. Monday through Friday calls for scattered showers and thunderstorms. Remember the safety rule of thunderstorms and lightning... when thunder roars... go indoors.
