This was and still is... the hottest Summer ever recorded in the United States.In 1986... thunderstorms produced major flash flooding at Leavenworth Kansas. Officially... 10.37 inches of rain fell... but unofficial reports exceeded 12 inches. In Kansas City 5.08 inches of rain fell for the day... establishing a daily record for July.
